The Empower Me initiative was launched in January 2021 and over the last 8 months the team has been raising ESNW program awareness on with the New West’s diverse multi-cultural and multi-lingual communities, ensuring equity in delivering energy-efficiency, climate action and other important municipal activities.
To date, four (4) virtual workshops have been successfully hosted by Empower Me, and in May, ESNW announced the launch of Empower Me webpage on our website which is also available in multi-language versions: Mandarin, Cantonese and Punjabi.
This month we’re excited to announce that Empower Me will be hosting an in-person workshop for the first time in New West! This workshop will be hosted on Friday, October 8th with Family Services of Great Vancouver (FSGV) Parenting group. There are also a few more virtual workshops scheduled for October and November that will be delivered in English, Mandarin, Arabic and Tagalog. The upcoming workshop schedule is as follows:
- FSGV Parenting Group (English) – Friday, October 8, 10 am
- WeChat Chinese (Mandarin) – Thursday, October 21, 7 pm
- General Public (English) – Thursday, October 28, 7pm
- General Public (Arabic) – Early November (Date/Time TBD)
- General Public and Living Hope Church Families (Tagalog) – Mid November (Date/Time TBD)
- General Public (English) – Thursday, November 25, 7pm
The workshops are approximately 90 minutes long followed by a short Q & A session. During the workshop, you’ll learn:
- Energy Conservation Tips
- Home Safety Tips and Advice
- How to Read, Understand and Lower Your Energy Bills
- Federal / Provincial / Municipal Rebate & Incentive Programs
